Sweet antique solid cast iron statue of a Borzoi or Russian wolfhound. I believe this to be a Hubley piece although I can't see any marking. He has original whitish enamel paint with brownish details. This type of dog was often pictured in the 1920s - 30s as a fashion statement, so I guess it is not surprising to find it as a statue selling or paperweight. He has been in the family for many years -- not new or a reproduction. Hubley operated in Lancaster PA, which is where part of our family is from.
Measures: approx. 5 inches long from nose to tail; widest point of base approx. 2 inches; 3 1/4 inches tall at the crown.
Condition is very good for its age. There is some chipping of the finish under the chin extending the length of the muzzle. Also on the tip of the tail. One eye is not showing as black (needs touch-up). Let me know if you need more close-up pictures.
