Product Details
Victoria's Rose. Victorian shop with antique blue bicycle. You will enjoy imagining walking along this Victorian street as the sun is setting and the shadows are growing long.

- The original oil painting is 18" width x 14" height. The canvas giclée image will be produced at the same size to preserve the artist's intent.
- Colors: Blues, violet, and gray.

Highlights of this work:
The violet Victorian home is aglow with the setting sun. It absorbs the long shadows being cast from neighboring trees. The Victorian lamp post and antique bicycle take the forefront and frame the illuminated home. The sky is a brilliant darkening blue that focuses your attention back to the house. Try peeking down the sidewalk or behind the house to see if you can make out any images. Although I paint with my appreciation of the impressionist period, which appears best at a slight distance, I will forever enjoy looking close up to see how those muted appearances are created.
Background of this work:
I began this painting as plein air, but took several photos to finish it later. The underpainting is a warm red that peeks out occasionally to add warmth and give a warm afternoon feel to the work. No one is around, which adds to the calmness and serenity of the sidewalk as you are walking along. I imagined the selling activity as shopkeepers may have lived in the upstairs rooms. The lone tulips creates the effect of early evening spring day. I love to take nature and structures and allow them to speak through the canvas.
