RARE Antique French Canary Yellow Rhebus Talking Plate selling Montereau Faience Fine Creamware Circa 1825
Super rare are the French faience fine transferware plates in this deep, rich, canary yellow color. This is the only canary yellow rhebus plate we have ever seen. Marked LL&T Montereau the "creamware" plate is from about 1825 and was produced in the Paris area. The plate is in good condition, with knife marks/scratches that are part of the plates social history (think of all that FRENCH CUISINE!) Please see photos. Not bad for almost 200 years!.
We enjoy collecting the various patterns from the major Parisian creamware manufacturers of the early 1800s. .. and sometimes we even use them for dining! Interestingly, the factories were run by Englishmen in the beginning, as the French had not yet selling mastered the transfer techniques.
8 1/4 inch diameter.
