RARE selling Vintage Nabisco Shredded Wheat Straight Arrow Cards- 1952, COMPLETE book 4, Fred Meagher artist- National Biscuit Co collectible
Remember when REALLY COOL things came in cereal boxes???
This listing is for a nearly complete set of Straight Arrow Injun-uity Cards. We believe that these cards were based on the radio program "Straight Arrow." According to Wikipedia, "The Straight Arrow radio program was a western adventure series for juveniles which was broadcast, mostly twice weekly in the United States from 1948 or 1949 through 1951." Wikipedia also notes that "Like many other children's programs, this one soon had cross-over presence. The Straight Arrow comic book, published by Magazine Enterprises, first came out in February 1950, running 55 issues until 1956. Most of the stories were written by Gardner Fox. In addition, there was a Straight Arrow comic strip for which Fox wrote all the scripts, as well as Straight Arrow collectible cards of Indian crafts inserted in the boxes of Nabisco Shredded Wheat cereal."
This listing includes 34 of the 36 cards that made up a complete set. They are from Book Four and were published in 1952. They were found in Nabisco Shredded Wheat packages manufacturing by the National Biscuit Company. Each card is a grey cardboard stock with green printing and are approximately 7-3/8 inches by nearly 4 inches. This listing includes all of Book 4's cards EXCEPT #26, and #32. Artwork done on the cards is marked Fred Meagher. Card No. 1 is the cover for Book 4. Card No. 2 is the Injun-uity index card for the set. Beginning with Card No. 3, each card has illustrations and written explanations for outdoor survival and how to use each item. Who is rust2retro? Right now we are three….a mother (Linda) & 2 daughters (Melissa & Sara). But we also have other family members help us out from time to time. And sometimes they add a piece or two to the shop, as well. Linda is a retired high school math teacher who is now learning the fine art of taking fabulous Etsy-ready photos. Melissa is a stay-at-home-mom of one & owns Concord Soap Company, selling on Etsy since 2008. Check out her shop here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ConcordSoap. Sara is an RN with a MAJOR love of garage and estate sales & auctions. She and her husband gladly bring along their children to search for goodies! We come from a family that has been going to auctions since we were little thanks to our amazing father/grandfather. He was a collector of beautiful Victorian glass that instilled a love of all things vintage and antique in each of us!
