Product code: VINTAGE selling 1940s SAMONSITE LEATHER SUITCASE
A rich and gorgeous suitcase that has withstood the test of time. This beautiful samonsite is from the 1940s. The suitcase is a hard shell type and is quite heavy. Sturdily built, the suitcase has two front metal claps for closure and monogrammed initials at the center. There is an inside key as well. The inside does have a bit of discoloration and general wear. The garmet straps are intact. At this point, Samsonite's tags still included the names of the founders; the Shwayder Brothers. This bag was made in the U.S.A. This suitcase measures, 21" long by 15" wide by 7" tall at its tallest point. I learned from my research that the exterior of this bag is leather. The best description I found of the color is, "saddle tan". I couldn't find any information as to what is under the leather. Possibly wood? The hardware selling is gold tone. The key is included and is #94.
