An incredibly rare engraving of a continental soldier from the American Revolutionary War.
We've been trying to research it selling as much as possible, but could only find that it's a reprint of a painting of a soldier trekking through the snow, but could find no likeness to fit what we have here.
Notice the soldier's one hand being kept under his breasted coat and the other holding his gun with a watchful eye for enemies. He lacks proper winter footwear and is only shielded by means of puttees, or, leg wraps.
The broken cannon and wheel shows visible signs of war were not long since passed.
Is he a brave soldier or a deserter?
20.5" x 15"
Condition: Pre-Owned Good
Former owner cut around the border and pasted the image to a plain poster board. We have cut the poster board off as it was obnoxious and took away from the image.
