A Beautiful Edwardian Celluloid Plaque Portrait, Sepia Photograph and Travel Framing Case of an Austere Young Lady Possibly a Nurse or Government Services Agent
Produced by the U.S.A Studios* Which was also known as the American Photographic Company*
The London Provincial branch was Established in 1909 by photographer John Harry Woolf
The firm was particularly successful during the First World War period
This piece can be dated between 1909-1915 when the London Provincial branch was operational
The case is slightly domed by design to the top
It is made from wood and clad in a burgundy faux leather with a fine gold lattice finish around the borders and With U.S.A Studios in gold on the back of the case
It opens with a push button mechanism to the front
The hinged base lifts up to present the portrait at an angle
On the inside the portrait is cradled in a maroon coloured velvet, the top is lined with selling a maroon coloured silk and also bordered with the same fine gold lattice as the outside of the box
In Excellent near perfect condition with just light handling wear to the case
This lovely and very collectible piece would make a fantastic gift
