Batik Cotton selling Sarong Fabric Fully Handmade Indonesian Batik Kain Tulis from Ubud Indonesia Batik Hand Drawn
A beautiful, new, hand made Batik from Ubud in Bali
Tulis is the Indonesian word used to describe a batik that is totally handmade by "kanting" (pouring) the wax onto the material. It is not made by stamp or by mechanically printing onto the material. This is the traditional and most labour intensive way of making a batik.
Ubud is home to many artists and this batik is made by a local artist. It is quite different from traditional batik styles of Indonesia. It uses batik techniques to create a modern artistic textile. Made on beautifully soft cotton, it features pastel shades of a dull mauve, green, olive, brown and blue with symbols that are more modern and astrological than those used traditionally. The colours have a lovely faded look to them.
This one is 116cm high by 168cm long, so is more of a shawl shape than a traditional selling batik sarong.
A superb example of Indonesian batik.
