This beautiful German selling silver belt buckle, when together measures 3 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches top to bottom. I believe it to be from around 1890.
I was told by the person I purchased this from that it is German silver. It has a shield shape that would easily lend itself to being repurposed into a gorgeous statement necklace. Glue the two halves together, drill small holes at the top to hang from chain.
Now if you want to reuse it as a buckle, the slot for fabric is approximately 1 3/4".
I especially love the way it appears to have large marquesite stones going around its border. Beautiful foliate design radiates from the center purple glass 1/2" stone. It almost resembles a thistle flower but it is German, not Scotish.
An amazing interesting & unique buckle!
