Handmade Terracotta Cheese Dome/Cloche antique, French with adition of one Mid Century cheese plate by Saint Amand France.

A handmade terracotta dome or cloche which would make a striking small piece for either cheese or cake and pastries.
With 2 holes and finial, perfect to keep your cheese outside fridge.
The lid is provided with double sides, so that a cavity is created, where fresh water enters and an evaporation process takes place, which allows for a cooling process over longer period of time and you can therefore store dairy products cool.

The cheese dome is handmade from terracotta with double layer to the cover to allow air flow for increased cooling.
In France we used terracota domes for keepeng fresh cheeses.
authentic and old French butter and cheese bell in hard-fired clay / terracotta. ‘Cloche de fromage'.
Dome with signs of age and wear, due to the nature of the item and material there are some imperfections, there are no chips or cracks to the plate, some wear consistent with age and use.
