The colors are bright, varied, and vivid; the designs are pure Japanese nature prints in their intricate grace; the respect for the artist who created these images runs through each and every page.
Rakusan Tsuchiya was a master of Japanese block printing during the mid-20th century. This over-sized magazine (10" X 13 1/2") has 6 pages of instructions with images in their various stages of creation, 19 full-sized (9" X 12 1/2") completed print images, and one 12" X 17" completed print image.
A few examples of the prints are shown in the photographs here, all of which include, in the margin, the 1970's prices for an original print of the image created by the artist selling ($25) and for a one in a one hundred-print series ($3). Ah, the good old days....
Keep this book intact or use the prints as framed art --- the colors and designs of the prints are crisp and intense .... really beautiful.
