Ready Made Ancestors Large Framed Portrait of Madam (51)

Framed portrait of a French lady. She came with Monsieur who is for sale in my shop. They have the same frame so I guess they were married. I think this looks like a studio photograph that has been altered at the time in an artistic way. It is really difficult to tell as it does not look to be just a photograph. There is a signature in the bottom right hand corner.


Decorative French frame with its original paint finish of gold color with I think gesso. It is in good condition with just a few areas where the plaster has gone to reveal the wood. The glass is the original and it in vintage condition, there are a few larger scratches that I have tried to reflect in the photographs.. I have cleaned it but there are still traces of dust. There is movement of the glass as the back does not fit so snuggly now but you can still hang it on your wall as it is. The back of the frame is worn and the dust over the years has travelled inside and now the interior is wonderfully foxed. Please only purchase if you love vintage.
