The 1924 Bulldogs were Cleveland's first National Championship football team. Started in 1923 by Samuel H. Deutsch The Bulldogs were composed of players from the 1923 indians and the financially struggling Canton Bulldogs. They finished the season with a 7-1-1 record and were challenged for the Championship on paper by the Chicago Bears. The league thankfully decided in the favor of the Bulldogs. In the later 20's the Bulldogs were less successful despite the addition of future college football hall of fame quarterback Bejamin “Benny Friedman” Through some complicated financial wheelings and dealings many of the Bulldogs went on selling to become original members of the NY Giants.
