Folk Art Primitive windup toy car. I have collected toys for many years. This toy has always occupied a very special corner of its' own in the collection. I purchased this car in a market in a very small town in nowhere VA. It was on a shelf behind the cash box. The lady had no history and just thought it was cute - it is! This was made of found pieces and assembled. The single rear wheel in from an old Japanese tin car. The clockwork motor looks USA and works. The motor is secured to the wood chassis with bent over nails - crude, but effective. The "body" may be scraps of aluminum siding.
In very faint pencil on the bottom there is a lot neat pencil writing. Mentioned is "Chevrolet"
The car is 8 1/2" long and 2 3/4" wide
