Iconic French Art Pottery, a great piece.
This pottery studio situated near Quimper, Brittany was opened by Victor Lucas in 1922. During the 1950's and 60's the output was innovative and highly successful due to a number of young and talented artists, brought in by Lucas and given the freedom and means to express themselves. Some of the most prominent included Pierre Toulhoat, Paul Yvain, Jos Le Corre, René Quéré and Xavier Krebs.
Shown in the photo is André Horellou in his studio. After studying in Paris, Horellou joined the Faienceries de Quimper, leaving to take up his passion - painting. An example of his work can be seen selling here> http://aetm-france.assoc.pagespro-orange.fr/. He designed the cover of Patience des Lointains for his friend, poet Bertrand Delporte.
