This necklace is a combination of new and vintage pieces. Circa 1960 faux pearls have a pink to salmon pink hue to them, complementing with the twelve contemporary, gold selling plated brass skull beads. The skulls are .25 inch, the pearls are about 3/8 inch. It has been strung on thick beading wire and both ends have a gold plated Balinese bead added for a little detail. The original disappearing clasp closes well. It is a princess length of 20 inches and is not adjustable. The skulls are small enough to be subtle but still highlight what appears to be a sophisticated pearl necklace.

Vintage faux pearls have an interesting story behind the manufacturing process, which is why we always use pearls over fifty years old in all of our pearl jewelry. They are made of blown glass that have been coated with a mixture of real, iridescent fish scales and oil, then polished down to the familiar luster that makes them so desirable.
