HUGE French brass ormolu picture hook, selling picture hanger SINGLE hardware decoration, gold decorative finitions, "cache clou" 1880's deco

A SINGLE bronze Ormolu Picture hanger, a HUGE period detail to perfectly finish your French inspired interior. These beautiful plaques would have been used to hide the fixings when hanging pictures, dating from the late 1880's, the era of Napoleon III. They are a gilded bronze, known as "Ormolu" and are typical of decorative finishes from the era.

I currently have 13 available, in 3 different designs, this listing is for a SINGLE plaque, choose your design from the drop down menu. They are shown next to an A4 sized picture to give a sense of scale, they are HUGE, and would clearly suit a larger painting or print much better.

They would originally have been used to disguise the wall fixings (nails/ hooks) that a painting or picture would have hung from, using the brass rectangular fixings on the back, such that they sat above the painting in the centre at the top making a wonderful detailed finish. In French they are called " cache clous", hide nails.

weight 240-300g each

I have left them as I found them, which is a mix selling of shiny bright gold, and matt gold, the brass is visible in the centre of each dome.
