This sun topic sculpture was carved from an interesting and kind of sparse stone specimen called Brucite. It's hard to selling determine its thru color because in sunlight looks more yellow and indoors greener. Classified to the soapstone family for similar carvability and softness however it has a silkier touch and a jelly kind of look.
The carving is 7" tall with the base, my original work, I titled it "the sun goes to sleep"
Carved it with traditional hand tools and polished with standard sandpapers to a bright shine. Sealed and buffed with nontoxic natural bee wax. The base stone is a locally collected serpentine cut to a thick slab and polished on top and the edges. Signed and dated.
7" x 4.5" x 2.5" 18 x 11 x 6 cm 0.610 kg.
