I like to create work that either tells a story, or looks like it emerged from one. My favourite stories emerge from time spent outdoors discovering plants and wildlife, moving through natural spaces, and documenting and collecting specimens. I have created silicone moulds of my collected natural specimens in faithful detail, and cold cast them using sterling silver precious metal clay. Because of my commitment to making one of a kind jewellery, these natural specimen reproductions are entirely my own and only available in my designs.

This beautiful buckle bracelet features a simple band of silver suspending a centrepiece of a window on the woods of moss agate, flanked by a delicate eastern hemlock pinecone. This is a one of a kind, striking bracelet whose faithful botanical detail and moody organic gem evoke the wonder and whisper of the deep woods.

Agate has been one of the most important creative materials throughout human history, its use dating as far back as the Bronze age. Found all over the world, used by so many different cultures, agate has been used to make ornamental items such as jewelry and carvings, and for practical objects such as knives, seals and cups. Agate stones are even used as tools in jewellery making: an agate tipped burnisher is used to raise a mirror shine on silver.
Moss agate looks like a terrarium stone, but doesn't actually contain any moss. Inclusions of manganese or iron create a rich green landscape that seems to float, suspended in a translucent, glowing agate background. It has traditionally been considered a talisman of gardeners and farmers, promoting the ability to grow and nurture new endeavors, and attracting wealth and abundance in all forms.

This adjustable cuff measures approximately 8" (20 cm) in circumference and about .7” (1.8 cm) at its widest point across the moss agate side. The silver wire band is 1.5 mm in diameter, with a comfortable round profile. This buckle style bracelet is sized for an average to larger-than-average wrist as selling shown in the black and white photo, my left wrist is 6.5" (16.5 cm) around, and this fits very comfortably. The wire bracelet is flexible enough to be shaped to create a good tension fit at the buckle end. The tiny pine cone to the side of the moss agate, cold cast in sterling silver with faithful detail, has been defined with a rich patina to bring out its detail, and the silver background has a plain, polished finish for a beautiful contrast. Next to the pine cone, a moss agate cabochon swirls with deep forest green tendrils through icy clear matrix. A few of these tendrils break the surface of the stone and create organic interest against the high polish of its surface. It is framed in a serrated-edge, fine silver bezel and the pine cone and moss agate are mounted on substantial .6 mm thick back plate for strength and comfort. The wire bracelet is permanently hinged to one end, while the clasp on the other end has been shaped so that the bracelet band will snap into the small hidden hook.

This cuff has been worked and tumbled for strength and durability, and polished to a high shine. It can be reshaped with even, gentle pressure to create the fit that you prefer.
