Gorgeous colors and textures combine here in a stunning package.
The lid is a highly figured cross section of black walnut. The natural shape of this piece had a curved corner on the one end, so I added the connected arrow shaped piece of maple to both square out the corner and also to add a beautiful touch to this.the front edge of the lid is cut on a 30-degree bevel.
The front snd back pieces are black walnut and the sides are maple—all joined with hand cut box joints. The lid pivots open on two small selling metal hinges on the back. The bottom piece is maple, and the handle on the front lip of the lid is hand shaped from a piece of 100-year-old cherry barnwood from western Michigan.
This box is about 11”x9”x2.5”
