Simple and classic--that is what I see in this vintage Anfora ceramic pitcher from Mexico. Anfora began producing porcelain in the 1920s, and is especially known for this blue-and-white dinnerware pattern Puebla Blue, which began being produced in 1940. Here we have a largeish water pitcher, all hand-painted. This piece has some discoloration on the interior, which appears to be pre-production redware stains. Not to say this piece is without age. In fact, this is at least from the 1960s, and the glaze has crazing. Amazingly, however, there are no chips nor cracks.

Measures about 7" tall and the top is about 4-3/4" in diameter yet closer to 8-1/2" across the handle dimension. The blue paint is slightly lighter in some areas, darker in others.

This is the beauty of Mexican dinnerware--meals are a work of art.
