Military cake topper, Uniformed groom, War bride, Bridal cake topper, Militia, Anniversary cake topper, Excellent vintage selling condition
The 1940s to mid-50s were turbulent military times for our country. Many soldiers went off to war not knowing when they would return or if they would return. Marriages were at an all-time high. Even though some of these were hastily organized weddings, the bride wanted and needed a wedding she'd never forget. Possibly this military wedding topper was from such a wedding. The topper stands 8” high with a 3 ½” base. An American flag with 48 stars is over the bride and groom's heads.
This topper is as I found it. The white is not as white as it was over 70 years ago, the flag has a bend in it, the bride's veil needs a little help, and it appears that the bride and groom may have been ‘spruced up' a bit. There are no broken pieces and the cake topper is marked on the back ‘1950 Pfeil & Holing' with the copyright C above the date. Pfeil & Holing is a New York state-based company that has been in business for almost 100 years.
A beautiful mid-century wedding celebration piece or top your wedding anniversary cake.

A Personal Word from Blue Barn About Delayed Shipping:
During this global pandemic, Americans are depending on the United States Postal Service for essential goods and services, and life-saving medications. Recent funding shortfalls and service cutbacks, as well as long-standing fiscal challenges, have caused the USPS to suffer. In the very recent past, Etsy sellers have seen their delivery times increase by an average of one day, with experiences of longer delays. If your purchase is delayed, please follow its progress, support selling the Postal Service Emergency Assistance Act (S.4174), and bear with us. We appreciate your visits to any of the Etsy shops, and Blue Barn thanks you.
