No expense has been spared in the crafting of each Nine Ravens Cuff Leather Cuff.
Each Cuff is made of supple, exquisitely finished, vegetable tanned leather which was purchased from the Horween tannery, the oldest and most esteemed leather tannery in the United States, known for it's unsurpassed quality. Ninety-nine percent of the leather cuffs available online are cut from a single layer of chemically treated hide. This means that the suede (unfinished side) , of the cuff is against your skin when you are wearing it. Those who have worn a cuff like this are well aware: Within weeks to months of purchasing such a cuff, it begins to take on a very unpleasant aroma. You try to cover it with cologne, or perfume or aromatic oils, to no effect. Then you throw it out. The fact is that unfinished, improperly tanned leather and human skin are -not- compatible. Every cuff I build consists of two separate layers of vegetable tanned hide. The top layer of leather is 5-6 ounces thick and is made from richly tanned leather deeply imbued with vegetable oil. This oil does not stain, nor does it dissipate: it will remain within the hide for the life of your cuff ensuring the longevity of the cuff itself as well as the artwork on the external cuff surface. The second, “bottom-layer” of leather that makes up your new cuff is three to four ounces thick and is also made from richly tanned hide, deeply impregnated with vegetable oil. These two layers of hide have been glued together, cured, then stitched together with very strong, Nylon thread, suede side to suede side. Unlike the cheaply made cuffs that permeate the market, these cuffs interface with your skin only at a surface that is already occupied by vegetable oil which will not absorb human perspiration and will therefore wear beautifully over time and will continue, as it should, to smell of … Leather.
The Nine Ravens Cuff is available in Black, Brown and Cognac. Five-size, adjustable cuff easily and comfortably accommodates small, medium and large wrists, ranging from 6.5 Inches in circumference at the smallest setting, to 8.25 Inches in circumference at the largest setting. Additionally, in order to accommodate extremely wide wrists, the overall fit-length of the Cuff can be extended to 9 Inches in circumference by simply removing two of the four provided brass ball and post fasteners. The Overall Cuff measurements are: ten inches selling long by two inches wide. The stout brass fastening hardware is made from beautifully constructed, individually milled blocks of brass, finished with black oxide. They will antique and polish to a bright gold patina when worn by their owner over time.
