Ceremonial Neckpiece Protector, Hunikuin Native South American Jewellery, Medicine neckpiece, Ethnic Accessories,
Hand crafted Neckpiece by the Hunikuin ethnic group in Acre, Brazil.
The traditional Hunikuin protection totem is weaved with glass beads.
Resistant to rain, and impressively strong!
Very often an indigenous woman will spend a week making a single piece.
It is an art in itself, of patience, planning, following selling traditions. Because they mainly live off their craft, they are happy to share this part of their culture with the world.
There is a spiritual meaning behind each pattern as they are all based on ancient symbols of healing and protection.
Because of their deep spiritual significance and their ability to evoke strong emotions in people, they serve as a means of connecting us to the forest spirits and ancestral energy. It's an important language for peoples' creative and cultural history because it suggests an ongoing interaction between different ways of seeing the world, experiencing it, and comprehending it.
The ‘kene' geometric patterns of the Huni Kuin tribe, deep in the Acre rainforests of Brazil, convey the medicine of the specific theme, animal or plant spirit, and are lovingly crafted by the women of the indigenous community. They are a significant part of Huni Kuin history and culture, and they provide individuals who wear them strength, blessings, and protection.
We are selling this one of a kind piece on behalf of the indigenous village which we support, and will only take a small percentage of the profit to cover the expensive logistics that is to send the artwork from the forest.
We also support indigenous based humanitarian projects.
Thank you,
