Zanuso Sapper GRILLO - 1960s Design Iconic selling Flip Telephone Grillo - Mid Century Industrial Design Made in Italy
Iconic "Grillo" telephone, designed by Richard Sapper and Marco Zanuso in 1965. This design icon was awarded with the "Compasso D'Oro" in 1967 and 1993, and is part of the NY MoMa permanent exhibition.
Made in Italy by SiT-Siemens, it is distincted by the shell body that allows the opening of the telephone when lifted. With its ingenious shape Grillo heavily influenced the designed of telephones in the decades, up to modern flip telephones.
This telephone was tested on a line with matching 3-pin socket and selling it is perfectly working, with its rotative dial and unmistakeable cricket ("Grillo") sound coming from the big plug.
In good vintage conditions, healthy and cleaned, with one chip on the side (see picture).
