This pink sapphire woman's pendant necklace jewelry is wire wrapped in silver, entirely handmade by me and includes free shipping. Wire wrapped settings are very distinctive from other types of setting and each setting is completely individual. Wire wrapped settings are very distinctive from other types of setting and each setting is completely individual and entirely handmade. You won't see many precious gemstones in a wire wrapped setting because of the difficulty in settings small stones in wire. I developed my own technique of creating prongs from the wire itself and you will likely never see another setting like this. I prefer wire over a more standard setting because I can be as free as I choose. I can create delicate swirls or dramatic flashy swathes very easily and I also find that the stones appear more brilliant and more vibrant because the wire allows more light from different angles to penetrate to the facets of the stone.

The Stone: Sapphire is the birthstone for the month of September and is known not only for it's beauty but also for it's durability as it has hardness just below that of diamond. Sapphires can come in a wide variety of colors, this sapphire is a vibrant deep pink and is beautifully facetted. It is approximately 2.5 carats in weight and 9x7 mm oval. In terms of quality, it is internally flawless and set in 1/10 sterling silver filled wire. This sapphire is not a "synthetic" but a lab created stone. This means that it is physically identical to an earth mined stone and is exactly the same mineral composition and brilliance as it's natural counterpart but is a fraction of the cost. I created a specially designed wrap to hold the stone securely while exposing the largest area of the stone possible to highlight it's sparkling facets.

The chain is silver filled with a lobster claw clasp and 20 inches long, which puts it at the top of the décolletage for most women but I can make a custom length at no extra charge if you'd prefer. Just indicate what length you'd like when you order. I ship all of my pendants in a carefully padded mailer and specially for the Holidays I'm including a hand folded origami envelope with an original watercolor sketch of mine on the outside ( the sketches in the picture are samples, yours will be a surprise!). The envelope converts to desktop easel to display the sketch if you like :-) Also a matching gift bag is included along with a free polishing cloth to keep your purchase sparkling!
