18th Century selling Histoire Naturelle Ornithologie Color Bird Engraving by Benard Direxit

This hand colored copper plate engraving is Plate 180 from selling Histoire Naturelle Ornithologie, a multi-volume encyclopedia created by Georges-Louis Leclerc de Buffon (1707-1788), with artwork by Benard Direxit. The etching is on laid paper and is in good condition with normal aging. The plate impression is approximately 7.5" by 10" and the paper is 8.25" by 11.25".
