This selling is a charming hand-colored lithograph, c. 1860. Because of its original matting, the name of the printer is hidden, but it was made by either Currier and Ives or one of several
other print houses that produced these popularly themed prints. This one depicts a boy and his large dog- a theme that was hugely popular for several decades- an enormous dog either protecting or rescuing a child. The title, "Best Companion" is attached in a High Victorian font just beneath the image. The frame is original, in the Adirondack style. At some point it acquired a new piece of glass, as the current one appears to be about 1940.
I will mention that there is a quarter-inch spot on the boy's face that is slightly lighter than the surrounding area. It has zero visual impact, and is original to the print.
