Handmade Giraffe Hide selling Purse, 1960s, From Brazil

First I will tell the story of this purse. In 1968 I moved to Southern CA to explore the hippie lifestyle. I lived in Manhattan Beach, I met a woman on the beach who was selling selling some of her belongings to go back to Brazil, she came there for the Summer of Love and was ready to go back home. She told me that her Dad made this purse and that it was made from giraffe hide. I used it for years and eventually had the handle replaced. It's been a long, long time since I've used it so I have decided to part with it and my memories, along with lots of other things. This purse measures approx 10 1/2" wide x 9" tall x 3 1/2" deep, the strap is approx 31" long. The flap on the front is the closure, it slips through a loop. There is a zip pocket on the inside but the metal zipper is stuck and I'm not going to yank on it. The pieces of the purse are lashed together with very thin pieces of leather, not plastic. It definitely shows signs of wear and on one corner of the bottom the leather thong is in need of repair. This is a piece of history, I doubt that the wildlife can be made into purses anymore.
