*There is such a fascinating story behind the life of Author William Makepeace Thackeray(penname M. A.
Titmarsh). You really should look it up. Here are just the BRIEF personal facts. He was a British novelist,
author and illustrator. Born July 18, 1811. Wife Isabella Gethin Shawe(1840-1894). Three children, all girls:
Anne Isabella (1837–1919), Jane (who died at eight months old) and Harriet Marian (1840–1875). His wife
suffered severe depression after the birth of their third child, and never recovered. Thackeray died from
a stroke December 24, 1863. An estimated 7000 people attended his funeral.
*This book is in amazing condition for being 149 years young. Is natural fading of the pages. Spine and
pages intact, and page edges are smooth. Some chafing and age spots on the outside cover(pics included).
