Product code: Vintage dodo bird by J.V. Orel for Zooline & selling Swank - poseable!
This dodo bird was designed by J.V. Orel for Swank of Japan in the 60s. It was originally made to hold a pair of cuticle scissors in the hole in the beak and nail clippers where tail feathers would be. I didn't have any cuticle scissors so I bent some wire into a pair of glasses instead---easily removed if you prefer him selling without! I do like the bookish air they lend, though.
Made of mostly honey-colored oak with probably birch for the feet which are stained black. The bird is in excellent condition--no damage, no repairs, no stains or splits in the wood.
The head swivels and tilts forward and back quite a bit, making all kinds of expressive poses possible---my favorite kind of toy!
just under 6" tall
