The Pied Piper is a classic character made famous from the Robert Browning poem and subsequently relegated through multiple retellings into a familiar member of fairytales lore. Like the jesters of medieval times which inspired him and the wandering minstrels who entertained the hoi polloi of the times, he remains a colourful and unique archtype all his own and a friendly, if cautionary, addition to any marionette collection.
