Shopping bag made of hessian by Indian schoolchildren in the 1970s.
Styled from reclaimed hessian sacks (also known as burlap or gunny) made from natural fibres, possibly jute or hemp. It is fully lined with unbleached recycled markin which is 100% cotton, and strongly sewn. The bag is boldly decorated with a hand applique of tropical fruits by little girls in India. The shape of the bag is designed to provide a strong handle that is not likely to snap under the weight of its contents.
This sustainable vintage item is the ideal gift for an eco-conscious person, particularly at Thanksgiving, given its motif of fruit. Mum or grandma would love this too.
In perfect condition both inside and out (except for tiny smudge on pear!).
