The most rare species of dragon, Winter Solstice (Wintarium Solaticenium) remains a pearl white for 99% of their lives. However, on the winter solstice of each year, each sex of this dragon undergoes a major change. For the entire week before the solstice, males magic production increases tenfold, the color of their scales changing from white to blue. During this week, the males battle viciously for the right to mate with the females. As the males battle, they also deliver food and nesting supplies to the females they are attempting to win over. The females remain the original pearl white color until the morning of the solstice, where they undergo the same change and become a bright glowing blue until the next day. This change has been theorized to speed up egg production and fertility, as this is the only day of the year the females mate.
