Vintage Reverse selling Hand-painted Snuff Bottle

Beautiful reverse painted yellow snuff bottle ( does not have spoon stopper) featuring grasshoppers. In Chinese culture it is believed that grasshoppers can bring happiness and wealth.

Chinese interior bottle painting originated in China over 300 years ago in the Qing Dynasty. The beautiful design of each bottle is painted entirely by hand. A highly skilled artist uses extremely slender and finely sharpened bamboo sticks. Using the bamboo stick dipped into a dark ink the artist first outlines the design. Once the outline is complete, the artist then begins the painstaking process of slowly filling in the colors. While designs maybe similar - each bottle is unique.
