As a career academic, I have a selling fondness for tweed. That's part of what inspires me to make TWEEDIES from upcycled wool garments. I love men's wool coats, but they look funny on me, so instead I rescue them from thrift stores, cut them into pieces, and give them new life--and keep them out of landfills. Each TWEEDY is unique and named for bird species I see in my yard in Georgia (because get it? "tweety").
The Mallard is a standard sized tote -- large enough to carry your laptop, plus a few smaller Tweedies containing all your stuff: lip balm and hand lotion, digital device doodads, pens, a knitting project. That's how I fill my own tote! It has five pockets on the outside and two more on the inside, because POCKETS.
It's made from a fabulous British hunter green wool riding jacket and a wool plaid blazer -- all thrifted of course. And the lining is some thrifted drapery material. I loved it so much I made curtains for myself from it too!
