I lived in Hoboken, NJ for two years before I moved back to the Chicago area. At the river you can see a really great view of the NYC skyline. Although the skyline is beautiful, what interested me more was a strip of land stretching into selling the water with trees perfectly lined up.

How it's created: First, gesso is used liberally on the canvas. For some pieces it shows through with lots of texture. I then draw the piece in charcoal and seal it in matte medium so it won't smudge when you get it. Later, I add thinned out acrylic paint for a pop of color.

- in a small spot in your home that needs a little warmth
- in a cubicle or office to remind you of the outdoors
- in a room where you might want a moment of quiet
