CUSTOM ORDER: EMAIL me through ETsy's convo system and let's create an imagined piece like this one into wall decor, table mat, framing or as a patch to upcyle your favorite jacket! Prices begin as listed! I am currently upcycling this toone of my favorite jackets by stitching this on to the back and embellishing it with other patches from this shop and my other textile art shop, Mending Ways. Will add photos when I start the process, which will be the end of July!

SIZE and HAND STITCHED CONDITION: is about 16 1/2 inches tall by about 8 1/2 inches wide, depending on where it's measured. HANDMADE CONDITION: these 2 quilt block pieces have been well loved, it's tattered torn worn thin in places, frayed faded with color runs and to me most beautiful front and back. First I thought it was going to be a pot holder, I was going to fold over both blocks, but the the back fabric has these faded old roses and I couldn't bear to not show them. Then I thought I'd make it into a small clutch, so at least the faded inside would show at selling times, but I just kept on embroidering on it and well, here it is for someone else to make it into something or just hang it.

I started this piece mid April and it started doing it's own thing, even named it's own self! It did not want to become a pot holder or clutch! As I mended all the rips, hole and tears, it kept whispering that is was Mimi's Winter Garden! So there are 3 centipedes, a slug and spider and instead of falling snow it has falling flowers. It has a lot of couching embroidery and wayward stitching. I had a grand old time stitching! There is a lot of small stitching in this and it was very difficult to stop. I still want to add to it!

PHOTO 8 shows part of the back of the blocks, you can see where I started to quilt around a rose, but had to stop myself to finish the front! Request it and I'll send more photos to you.

FABRIC CONTENT: I'm not sure, but it feels like some cotton and wool and perhaps blends. It seems like there are 3-4 layers. The log cabin top, then a piece of plain cotton or muslin, the batting and then the lovely faded rose backing. The log cabin appears to me to be machine stitched and there is some hand quilting on the back in white thread. Questions welcome.

DOMESTIC SHIPPING: includes support and USPS first class shipping with tracking and insurance. Shipping overages of $2 are refunded after your shipping label has been made. We ship out promptly every Mon, Wed and Fri, unless it's a holiday and then we ship on the next designated day. Please read our shop and shipping policies before placing an order and ask questions, so we can meet your expectations. FREE local pick up in the Los Angeles or Monterey Park area welcome. Thank you for your visit.

LAST PHOTO: If you'd like to make your own, I have a lot of these log cabin blocks, some are listed in this shop here:

Hoarder History: My new alternative to hoarding! I am a quilter, but my sewing machine and other textiles are in the hoard, but I'm learning to set time aside for smaller projects with set up and clean up time, instead of leaving my stuff out all over the place.

Untold Destiny: I hope these go to someone who enjoys traditional yet abstract art or inspires someone to make it into something else!
