SEWING BOX– reproduction - Green Silk - 18th-19th century style reproduction
This box is a 18th-19th century style reproduction piece, created and assembled to be both useful and attractive for today's seamstress, needleworker or reenactress.
A vintage box has been refurbished and renewed for a new life and continued use. The wood box is a generously sized 12” wide x 6” deep x 3.5” high selling. The box latches securely closed for transport and has a working lock and key, which is on a green tassel.
Though plain outside, inside are practical and pretty features; a top tray can slide left or right on small wood ‘risers', or it can be removed entirely. The inside top of the lid is lined in emerald green silk, and features a small mirror edged with gold passementarie - a common feature in many sewing cases. The bottom of the sewing box is also lined in green silk, and the removable tray is completely covered in the same fabric.
Included with the box is a small reproduction needlebook. The needlebook is inspired by period piece, c. 1850, and has mother of pearl covers with ‘leaves' of white wool. It is lined with green silk to match the box colors, and has a green silk ribbon to tie closed.
Overall Size: 12”wide x 6” deep x 3.5” high
