W. & S. Blackinton was formed in 1868, by William, Samuel and Lewis Blackinton, and in 1869, Horton, Angell & Company, came into being, the first local concern to pay its employees weekly. The corporation is now known as Horton-Angell Co. This turn-of-the-century example of their craftsmanship is 1 1/8 inches in diameter. Small sapphire stones mounted on ornate gold (12K?) filigree facing. First 3 sapphire stones are missing. The man shown is John Eugene Goehring of Springfield, Ohio in about 1910.
