Her four hands, represent the four goals of human life: virtues, sensuality, purpose, and enlightenment (dharma, kāma, artha and moksha.) Ancient beliefs perceived all women to be embodiments of Lakshmi. She sits here like a yogin on a lotus pedestal, holding two lotuses, symbols of fortune, self-knowledge and spiritual liberation.
