Selling Vintage Onyx Head Bookends - a Pair

This is a pair of stunning bright-white onyx head bookends. I can guess that they were made between 1920-1960. I can also guess that they originated in South America, although I can't be sure of this either. They could be from Europe, America, etc. They are carved beautifully with attention to detail in the hair and features. They are rather heavy and very white with some opaque marbling. There is no discoloring and no cracks. There is one small chip on one selling of the lips of one of the bookends but I suspect it happened during production. There is also a small chip on the side edge of one of the bookends, and a small chip at the base of the other. These are truly a treasure.
