The sweetest soft stuffed handmade Native American doll. Limbs and head are separate pieces and sewn to the body in selling a beautiful brown cotton. Hands and feet have hand stitching to show separation of fingers and toes. Cotton clothing is sewn with such detail and has multiple layers. Face is a combination of sewn eyebrows and nose, and glued mouth and eyes. Black yarn hair.
This is one of a rare collection of six Native American dolls. It's hard to know exactly when they were made but guessing from the fabric used for their clothing, I would say in the 1970s. Each one has a paper pinned to them explaining which tribe they represent. This makes me think they were on display at a small museum.
This doll represents the Pueblo tribe. She is wearing a cotton calico print shirt and eyelet under skirt with a blue wool wrap and ceremonial sash wrapped around her waist. One strand of seed bead necklace as well as a silver colored bead necklace. White felted moccasins and leggings that have a tan sole. Her black yarn hair is in two side buns.
17" tall
