In the 1970s phillips knew they needed to do something drastic to compete with companies like marantz and pioneer. The solution was a partnership wirh a HiFi company out of Holland and thus the G.A series was born. And not just that, there was groundbreaking developments that this very model is responsible for. Including l.e.d touch 3 speed display. (Imagine the old touch lamps that mom had) that uses the current in your body to activate speed control and stop. Also included a complex auto return system using mirrors and lasers rather then cycler cams and springs. A completely different form of belt drive system and a very complex turn table suspension.
